The Friends Boy School
In 1994, acting upon a concern for the many young men who were not able to attend
high school due to their failing the extremely difficult entrance examinations,
the Friends Boys School was founded.
The Boys School, located in Belize City, was designed to provide boys with a second
opportunity: to teach them the skills needed to retake and pass the exam and move
on to high school, or to prepare them for learning an employable trade and thus
to keep them off the street.
Since nearly 60% of Belize's population is under the age of 19, the Boys School
plays a vital role, helping to fill the gap between grade school and work opportunities.
